Deus Ex: Human Revolution to Support 3D, DX11

Oft neglected PC gamers have a reason to smile with Eidos Montreal's latest announcement for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The developer has promised to go the extra mile by incorporating PC exclusive goodies such as AMD Eyefinity and DirectX 11 support. The PC version will also feature the ability to render visuals in full 3D glory. AMD s proprietary Eyefinity multi-display technology will allow Deus Ex: Human Revolution to be displayed across a maximum of five displays. So if you have the dough to afford an Eyefinity setup, expect nothing less than a compelling big-screen, high-resolution experience.

A DX11 mode invariably means that the developers will leverage tessellation to bump up model complexity and detail without overloading the GPU with extra polygons. "In Deus Ex: Human Revolution you see characters up close a lot as you interact with them, like in dialogues. Using tessellation to improve their look really helps make the world and the characters more believable, which is important in a story-heavy game like Deus Ex: Human Revolution," confirms head of PC development, Jurjen Katsman. Julien Bouvrais, Director of technology at Eidos Montreal explains that he doesn't intend to pull a Crysis 2 on us with the port, "When it comes to DX11 or AMD-specific features we have developed, we wanted to make sure they were adding to the game and not just tacked on without real purpose."

To put it bluntly, anything that has the word port, doesn't inspire much confidence or trust. We will therefore reserve our judgment till we actually see the Deus Ex: Human Revolution running on our rigs. That will have to wait till August 23, when the game is promised to hit the store shelves.
