Should Nokia Adopt to Windows Phone 7?

The telegraph reported about a letter from an analyst in London in which he urged Nokia to adopt the Windows Phone 7, and to abandon their homebrewed Linux-based Meego mobile operating system.

Although Nokia still might be the number one cell-phone maker in the world, their smart-phone line-up is having a tough time competing with Apple's iPhone and a slew of Google Android based phones in all price ranges. But hardware isn't the reason for this failure -- the N8 has proved this all too well, it's the software. Symbian^3, while fixing many bugs from earlier versions, isn't still considered up to the mark in terms of the interface. More importantly, the number of apps supported for Symbian are not as high as the iOS or Android platforms.

On the other hand, Microsoft has done a great job with the interface for Windows Phone 7, but it still has a lot of basic things missing that would be desired by the premium smart-phone buyer.

So then, does it make sense for Nokia to make a Windows Phone 7 handset? Of course, they aren't choosing Android, so what else do they have? Or do you still believe in their Meego platform that has been upcoming for many a season now?
