Apple Corporation is planning to use A8 ARM cores in the new iPhone 5. Apple is planning to use it not only in iPhone but also in other Apple products such as iPad. A Hong Kong based newspaper has reported that apple has contacted some Taiwanese suppliers for components. Apple is planning to use it not only in iPhone but also in other Apple products such as iPad.
The new ARM A8 processor will be operating at 1 Ghz and will be using PowerVR SGX535 graphics chip which will be on a same silicon chip, this will allow the new iPhone to process good quality graphics on screen. As said above these chips will also be used in Apple TV, iPad and fourth generation iPad touch.
Well nothing surely can be said on this news because as in 2009 also the Apple has been expected to bring a multi-core iPhone. The PowerVR SGX543 can support dual-core processors and also openCL (Open Computing Language). OpenCL was used in Mac OS X Snow Leopard, the specialty of OpenCL is that, it can use both GPU and the best of CPU-GPU combination. With the current chips and OpenCL it will have good graphics and processing power.
Since there is no confirmation from Apple so far, we can call it as simply a speculation. But one thing can be said surely, that the future samrtphones will be eqquiped with good graphics chips. And In CES 2011 we have seen, companies are now offering 4 inches screen and a 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra T20 mobile application processor which will be dual core. In future the smartphones will be much more entertainment sensitive gadgets and we will see more HD content and gaming, but at the same time we don’t want to sacrifice our battery life.
For all our predictions we need to wait for the launch of iPhone 5 in the mid of 2011.
