By this time almost all geeks have been handling the latest android phone from Samsung. The glossy plastic and metal effect has moved into the look of iPhone 4. But Galaxy S is a little different design which has a slim and sleek body with 122.4×64.2×9.9mm and 119g , but its the look gives and hand-feel. Still its build quality is decent.

There are just few hardware controls but still there is an excellent volume rocker on the left side with power key on right. A home button can bee seen on touch sensitive menu and back buttons are also available. Long holding the menu key will takes you to the search feature. Though the power button is poorly placed , the corners of galaxy phone is little sensitive. The power button is located at the position where the user constantly keeps his fingers at rest.

We switched off the phone thrice because of the power button on right. The optical joystick is the one which is missing and its not a problem, as it may be difficult to move around text documents.

When we discuss about the technical aspects of this phone , it comes with a powerful 1GHZ processor, with 8GB of internal storage. Its divided as 2GB for apps and 6GB for media. There is also a microSD slot available which can be expanded upto 32GB. Connectivity options include 900/1900/2100 HSDPA along with Wi-Fi b/g/n. When talking about the bluetooth it comes with version 3.0 and microUSB port 2.0, it comes bundled with GPS and accelerometer.

Digital compass and light sensors are other addons included. Galaxy S comes with a 5 mega pixel autofocus vamera and a VGA front camera a video calls. No Flash is available and you can record videos at 720p HD at 30fps which is much better for HD video. Galaxy S is powered by Super AMOLED technology making a decent picture quality. Colors are more beautifully portrayed and brightness is stronger. It gives out door performance a boost.

When moving to the software section , as you know , Galaxy S is powered by Android 2.1 and also preloaded with TouchWiz 3.0 User Interface. The improvements like notification bar, which gets more easier access to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. There comes with four fixed easy to use applications like Phone, Contacts, Messanging, and Applications.

When you try to open up your email account, the email messages are shown up instantly and there are options like marking and deleting on the fly. Though it would be faster because it runs on 1GHZ chip.

While using it regularly , the camera app crashed frequently and the UI may be little frustrating for newbie android users. New messages are not removed in the main menu unless you mark it as read which causes irritation for power users.  The notable feature is the Samsungs multimedia player which beats Google. It supports MPEG4, H.264, Divx, Xvid, AVI etc. If your android phone is paired with 3.4mm headphones, then you have got an ipod in hand.

Social networking options like Samsungs Social Hub and Facebook , MySpace and Twitter had a complete desktop feel which easily allows you to stay connected on the go. The phone also comes with a Mini Diary app which allows you to create journal entries and save it on your phone but misses an option to upload to any blog service.

There is a greater disadvantage of Android phones is that they are an easy target to malwares and Android OS is still developing and needs some testing. In more recent version their software proved more easy and relaible for users.

Galaxy S would be the next smartphone experience after iPhone 4. The Galaxy S is the best with a Retina Display and a larger screen size. The glossy plastic and build quality made the phone much impressive. Its a cool gadget to hang out with. The pricing details are yet to be officially announced. Currently the phone holds a price tag of $699 for the 8GB version.
