Mass Effect 3 will have no multiplayer

The latest issue of GameInformer brings latest dope on Mass Effect 3, and with it some bad news as the rumored multiplayer inclusion apparently will not happen. The first two Mass Effect games lacked a multiplayer mode, and fans were hoping for one with the third installment, which seems out of the question now. The article however mentions that multiplayer will be considered for sequels and spinoffs in the future. It will be illegal to post scans here, but the good folks at NeoGAF have posted details on the magazine article. Here s the full list of features:

  • Deeper RPG mechanics with an even more expansive skill tree.
  • Multiple good and bad endings affected by player actions and companion choice.
  • Weapon mods change visual and operational characteristics. Weapons are accessible across all classes.
  • Returning characters: Liara T'Soni, Kaidan Alenko and Ashley Williams.
  • Unconfirmed squad members: Garrus, Wrex, Mordin and Legion.
  • James Sanders - a possible offspring of Mass Effect novel heroine Kahlee Sanders - can also apparently join your team.
  • Game starts with Shepard on Earth, effectively on trial in regard to the events of Arrival, and in the middle of the trial, the Reapers invade. Prologue involves Shepard's escape to the Normandy, and off to start finding those allies, fighting Reaper troops (husks of all the different species) the whole way.
  • Just like Mass Effect 2 (PS3), ME3 has an interactive digital comic as a prelude to the story and to record pivotal series decisions for a player starting from scratch.
  • The Illusive Man also plays a prominent role, and Cerberus is out to kill Shepard. Reason why is unknown at this point.
