It's strange that the father of internet Vint Cerf has said that the world is running out of internet addresses, what is going to happen in tomorrow is the big question?
Most of the countries are still using it, though IPv6 has already come. Vint,computer scientist and engineer have created web protocol IPv4 says that he was unaware in 1977 when he proposed IPv4 to the world, that this experiment will be continued for more than three decades.
"I thought it was an experiment and I thought that 4.3 billion [addresses] would be enough to do an experiment," he said in group interview with Fairfax journalists. IPv4 assigns each device a unique combination of numbers, these numbers are used by the devices for communication, this protocol has a limitations, such as it can only provide 4 billion addresses, but as more and more people in the world are connecting themselves with internet and no of devices are also on increase, there are only few million addresses which are left.
As we spoke about IPv6, this new protocol can give us trillions of addresses, and as the world population is around 6 billion, we can expect that each and every person gets the address. "Who the hell knew how much address space we needed?" Cerf said.
Vint Cerf is currently working as a Vice President of Google, he is there from since 2005.Respected a lot among computing community because , his predictions related to future and computing technology were quite correct, Vint has also made right predictions of internet and its effects on the society. As IPv6 is there so no need to worry,But for Vint, it is a dream which has lived its full life with grace, and now going for its graceful end.
